“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah 6

God is speaking directly to Isaiah in this verse! How terrified Isaiah must have been! Our Lord God speaking directly to him! He was a sinful human being, just as we are. He cried out, “Woe to me! I am ruined! (v. 5). Has God spoken to us? Have we cried out, “woe to me?” Are we afraid that we are “ruined?”

God did not leave Isaiah without hope. God has never left us without hope. Do we need to be terrified? We see in verse 7 that Isaiah’s guilt is taken away and his sin atoned for. Our guilt has also been taken away and our sins have been atoned for. What was Isaiah’s response? What is our response?

(Isaiah) “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ “And I said, ‘Here am I! Send me!’” (v. 8)

Isaiah was ready to go and tell others about God’s grace and mercy. Oh, we can be sure that he had many questions running through his mind just as we do when we are called to serve. What are some things that we think of: Where will we go? Will it be safe? Where will we live? What will we eat? What do we take with us? What if I don’t know what to say? Sometimes these questions can become excuses for not doing what God has commanded.them. God has given each and every one of us gifts that are needed for mission work.

In I Corinthians 12:4-6 it says: “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.” What can YOU do?

Pray – for us and the people of West Africa. We are commanded to pray without ceasing.

Encourage – Send us cards, letters, emails. We would love to hear from you. We can encourage each other.

Share – our story with family, friends, fellow church members, or others so they can also serve.

Pledge – financial support.

Please be a missionary and journey to West Africa with us. A missionary is: “being part of a team—those who are sent and those who are doing the sending.” God’s command to Isaiah, and to us, is: “Go and tell this people…”

(v. 9).
